Hi, I’m Julie

Julie Carr, trauma-informed therapist offering virtual counselling in BC and Canada

Julie Carr, BA, MA, RCC
RCC #18807

I know how vulnerable it can feel to share the parts of yourself you’ve been holding together for so long. That’s why my first priority is creating a space where you feel supported, understood, and safe enough to explore what’s really going on beneath the surface.

My approach is always tailored to you because no two stories are the same. Together, we’ll explore the roots of what’s bringing you here. Most of the struggles we carry—like anxiety, people-pleasing, or perfectionism—aren’t things we’re born with. They’re patterns we’ve learned along the way, shaped by past experiences, relationships, and the ways we’ve tried to stay safe in a complicated world.

As we uncover these patterns, I’ll support you in building new ways of relating to yourself and others. My approach blends warmth and compassion with evidence-based therapies like EMDR, IFS, ACT, and AEDP—along with insights from mindfulness, somatic therapy, and attachment theory. Together, we’ll find what works best for your unique healing journey.

My Personal Story

I’ve always been curious about how our earliest relationships and experiences shape the stories we carry about ourselves. Growing up in a family that moved every few years, I experienced many cultures and ways of life—each shaping how I see the world and what it means to belong. That nomadic upbringing gave me a deep appreciation for people’s unique stories and how our pasts shape our present selves.

As a therapist, I approach each person’s story with deep curiosity and care. I want to fully understand the experiences that have shaped you—your patterns, your pain, and your hopes for something different. My goal is to hold space with care and curiosity—so you can feel seen, supported, and ready to create lasting change.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me traveling (especially anywhere with a beach), chasing sunsets, dancing to live music, or catching up with friends over good food and big laughs.
